Telegram offers two types of APIs for developers. Both are free of charge. One of the nagging issues I have with WhatsApp is its extremely limited text editing features. For example, if someone sends a message, you canβt select a part of text from the message. You will have to copy the whole message and then edit it out in the small text field which frankly is very annoying. However, Telegram has brought a great way to select and copy a part of a message. Tap and hold on a message to select it first and then again tap and hold to select your part of the message. Thatβs ingenious, right? Premium Unique Reactions
Migrate Phone Numbers, or Add a Second Number Similar options are available for sharing your phone number and profile photo. You can also select who can add a link to your account when forwarding messages, who can call you, and who can add you in groups. Telegram Sending Options To set self-destruction timer, swipe right on the homepage, tap βNew Secret Chatβ, and add recipients. Now simply tap the clock icon and set Self-Destruct Timer to the desired time limit (from 1 second to 1 week). The clock starts ticking the moment messages are displayed on the recipientβs screen.
Here, Telegram will give you some information about what happens when you change your number. Basically, all your messages will be moved to the new number and your new number will be automatically added to all your existing Telegram contacts, barring the blocked contacts. Itβs way easier then re-sharing your new number with everyone. To change the number, tap on the βChange Numberβ, enter the new number and follow the process on your screen. Polls and Quiz Mode On WhatsApp and other messaging apps, you can send uncompressed media by changing the media extension to something like PDF or EXE. However, on Telegram, you donβt need to take this hacky route for sending uncompressed media files. Just select your media and tap on the 3-dot menu. After that, choose βSend without compressionβ and that is it. How awesome is that? This single Telegram trick has saved me so much headache when sharing photos. Since non-secret chats and files are stored in the cloud, you can access them from any device by logging into your account. You will never have to worry about on-device storage or losing important files, but the trade-off is that you lose a bit of privacy and security.
While you can send uncompressed media in other messaging apps, you have to convert it in another format like EXE or PDF. Telegram, however, allows you to send uncompressed video and images directly (without converting them into another format). It saves you a lot of trouble. Telegram Profile Photos
